Most helpful customer reviews on Amazon. December 26, - Published on Amazon. Verified Purchase. I bought this book so I wouldn't have to do google searches for Zend tutorials.
Yet, I ended up having to do that anyway. Pope repeatedly instructs the reader to put in lines of code without ever mentioning where that code should be entered.
After doing some trouble shooting online, it turns out there are very specific places and ways to enter in this code which Pope assumes you will just know. Otherwise, the book is fine, but overall it just adds to the already poorly documented Zend framework. February 9, - Published on Amazon.
: Zend Framework Web Application Development book review
Zend Framework ZF is a very complex piece of software and getting consistent direction on it through websites is a little wanting. This books comes shining through. It has certainly gone a long way in popularizing the use of frameworks, especially in the PHP community, with a lot of PHP developers choosing to switch to Ruby.
Well Ruby on Rails will provide you with a lot of very good tools and I can see why people are drawn to it. So with all these frameworks what's the best? Well, if you bought this book you have probably already chosen to use the Zend Framework. And you're making a totally valid point in the context of hooking it into a Continuous Integration CI environment, although CI isn't mentioned once in the book.
Does the book get into details about how to set up domain models, data access objects, mappers, etc? If yes, how much detail are provided for these topics? Hi Ankit, The book provides a whole chapter on Models where the Domain Model is covered slightly due to this very big subject. As mentioned in the review a application specific Storefront Models is introduced based upon the concept of Model Resources.
